So the 2011 schedule is off to a dodgy spot but I WILL be adding rides soon. My bike has been down for a couple of weeks due to some fairing repairs I’ve been making. Dads bike was tore down to make massive repairs to his fairing. My bike will be back on the road by the end of this weekend. I hope to have his fairing painted and ready by month end. Stay tuned for updates!
Thanks always,
Bob Jr.
Update: I’ve already gotten a couple questions on why the fairings need to be repaired. First of all our bikes are old. My bike is old enough to drink, my dad’s is old enough to cut back on drinking. Plastic that age gets brittle. But beyond that there is more history. My Dad’s bike is easy. The previous owner put the sidecar on after he put the bike down, fairly hard and did a poor job of fixing it.. but it seemed to weather it pretty well. But mostly before my Dad bought it and after it got the sidecar what it did was sit parked. Dad started taking it on our rides and as a result the vibration and distance took a higher toll and the damaged fairing just started to fall apart. Dad bought it with the damaged fairing. My bike is a different story. It had been put down before I got it with some minor damage but I spent a lot of time and effort fixing it. However one day last year when I stopped at the Minneapolis VA hospital someone knocked it over on its side while I was in the hospital for quick business. I fixed it last year, I had thought, but I missed some damage and even worse the adhesive used was not the right one. Since my bike is also my everyday commuter when ever possible (and by Minnesota standards my notion of possible is pretty broad), “some damage” turned into quite a bit of damage due to wind and vibration and I had to pull it down. I have one last repair to make and she should be back on the road late tomorrow.
And thanks to Chris from EveryDayRiding for the tweet…
